Cedar Grilling Planks: Northern white cedar which contains no toxins is the most popular of all grilling planks because of its unique smoke and sap flavor and how it enhances the flavor of salmon. Native Americans were using cedar to cook salmon long before it became a popular restaurant and home menu item. Simply soak your cedar plank in water for two hours before use. Lightly coat the plank with olive oil and place salmon fillet or steak skin side down on plank. Salt, Pepper, and lemon to taste. When finished a little drizzle of maple syrup is a great finishing touch!
